Adventure in nature
Looking for a mini adventure? Go treasure hunting in Lommel’s beautiful natural areas. In the Sahara, Heuvelse Heide, De Watering and Kattenbos, fun treasure hunts await young explorers.
Prefer a city adventure? The Reute-me-teut trail in Lommel’s town centre is ideal for urban explorers and can easily be combined with a visit to the Wednesday market.
PS: For older adventurers, the treasure hunts are also available as geocaches.
Tip: These activities are easy to combine. Mix outdoor and indoor experiences for a perfect holiday day in Lommel!
Robert BoonsCarnival in Lommel
Do you traditionally start your carnival holidays by celebrating carnival? Then Lommel is the place to be. Local carnival associations bring colour and atmosphere, with highlights including the large carnival parade in Lommel town centre on Sunday and the children’s carnival parade in Lutlommel on Monday. Put on your best costume, bring a bag for the treats and enjoy the creative floats and festive atmosphere.

Outdoor play & skating
Playing outside is always a good idea, even in winter. Let the kids run wild in one of the play forests or head to Dol-fijn outdoor playground near the Lommel Sahara. The playground offers a wide range of equipment, including swings, slides, climbing frames and a large sand area. For younger children, there is a separate, safely enclosed play zone. Kids who prefer wheels will love the skate park right next to the playground.
Need a break? Choose a picnic table for a winter picnic or warm up indoors at Brasserie De Kantine.

Water fun in Lommel
A day of water fun is a must during the carnival holidays. Make a splash at Optisport De Soeverein or enjoy subtropical swimming fun at Aqua Mundo.
PS: We’re giving away 6 duo tickets for Aqua Mundo to the first readers of this blog. Send a quick email to communicatie@visitlommel.be and you might be one of the lucky winners!
Jeroen ClerixExhibition ‘Wij, Wolven’
Curious about wolves in Bosland National Park? Visit the exhibition ‘Wij Wolven’, created especially for children and young people aged 6 to 18. The exhibition brings the fascinating story of the wolf to life and shows how humans and wolves can live together. You can visit this exhibition free of charge until 28 February at Center Parcs De Vossemeren (open daily from 9 am to 6 pm).

Bad weather tips
Not the best weather? No problem. Jump around at trampoline park Arenal, challenge friends or family to a game of bowling, or enjoy the latest films with popcorn or other treats at UGC Cinema's Lommel.

A romantic start
This year, the carnival holidays begin with a touch of romance. Fancy a Valentine’s Day date, with or without children? Get inspired by our date ideas, with the Tour d’Amour as a clear favourite. Along this 3.5 km walk, playful challenges await couples. The route is also perfect for families (an even number of participants is recommended). A lovely way to laugh, talk and enjoy quality time together.
Hilda LodewijsEnding with two unique activities
Want to end your carnival holidays in an original way? Head to the square opposite De Soeverein on Friday evening for stargazing with Aquila, Lommel’s local astronomy association, during the National Stargazing Day.
Prefer cuddling animals? Visit care and experience farm Het Groeiveld on Saturday during the Farm Experience Day. Cuddle sheep and rabbits, pet the donkey and treat the cows to a tasty carrot – pure holiday happiness!
