A forest full of cats

Kattenbos? A forest full of cats - that’s what you might think. Not quite. This area is named after the Katrijt Valley and the stream of the same name, meaning 'flowing water'. Kattenbos is not only a natural gem with breathtaking heathland landscapes; it also carries a rich past. Archaeological finds from the Ice Age prove it: here, you travel 14,000 years back in time.

By comparison, the Leyssensmolen seems almost young. This lively grain mill from 1797 moved location three times before finally settling in Lommel in 1964. Quite a turbulent history.
