From House of Nature depart several hiking trails that take you through sandy plains, past mirrored pools of water and quiet pine forests of the Sahara nature reserve. The trails vary in distance and difficulty, so there is a suitable hike for everyone.
Landscape art by Will Beckers
Artist Will Beckers created this landscape work as Lommel's gateway to Bosland National Park. Like an organic form, House of Nature is intertwined with the surrounding nature. You can step into the artwork through a passageway shaped like a human being. The gigantic art installation is constructed entirely of steel; the outside consists of thousands of steel plates, which were welded together in a rhythmic distribution.
Multifunctional reception area
House of Nature is more than just a work of art. It is the perfect place to start or take a break during your exploration of Lommel’s nature and is the departure point for all Sahara walks. You will also find a cosy picnic area, a green forest room, and chairs decorated with stylised drawings of animals that live in Bosland National Park. Visitors can park their bikes here, while riders can let their horses rest.
A buggy-friendly walking and experience path guides you from the parking lot to the entrance gate. The path consists of sculptures that seem to blend into the landscape. Tree trunks are used to create a climbing and scrambling course for children.
