Stone of the Seven Delights

The Steen der Zeven Heerlijkheden, located along the border between Lommel, Mol, Dessel and Balen, marks more than a simple border point. This centuries-old boundary marker, presumably placed around 1620, symbolizes the unique bond between the seven villages that once came together here: Mol, Balen, Dessel, Lommel, Luyckgestel, Postel and Bergeijk.

The designation "Zeven Heerlijkheden" lost its official meaning in 1843 after a border correction with the Netherlands. Despite this change, the historical value of the stone was preserved. In 1981, the Mol Chamber of Local History took the initiative to re-excavate and restore the stone, with representatives of the seven villages present.

Today, the Stone of the Seven Lordships stands as a proud testimony to the shared past of this region. The small open space around the stone, surrounded by seven trees symbolizing the Seven Lordships, invites reflection and remembrance.
