3 times enjoying the blooming heath

In these nature reserves in Lommel, you don't have to look far to find the purple flowers. They provide a beautiful setting for a walk or bike ride. The heath blooms from mid-August to mid-September.

Heuvelse Heide

The Heuvelse Heide is a small, hidden heath gem with a water pond near Lommel-Kolonie. The walking area alternates between sand, forest, water, and heath. Plenty of variety! The irrigation canal De Grote Fossé flows along the heath area and the forests of the Heuvelse Heide.

Treasure hunt tip: The Lost Gnome Village also starts here!

Starting point and parking: De Meerpaal, Boskantstraat 60, Lommel

Kattenbos

At Kattenbos, you walk along breathtaking heath landscapes, a giant butterfly, and fairy-tale play elements. The Butterfly Walk of 2.2 kilometers is easily accessible with a stroller and wheelchair. You can also enjoy the heath on horseback on one of the 5 routes.

Starting point and parking: Zandstraat, Lommel

Blekerheide

The pedestrian bridge over the Bocholt-Herentals Canal is the graceful steel gateway to the beautifully expansive Blekerheide.

Treasure hunt tip: On the route The Treasure of King Lion, you walk through the unique scenery of Blekerheide and the Lommel Sahara.

Starting point and parking: Lossingsweg z/n, Lommel
