Along the path you will see a special landscape with herbaceous plants, hedges, multi-trunked trees and Scots pines. Special attention goes to bee- and butterfly-friendly planting, because pollinators have an important function for our society as well as in nature.
Green Pearls
With the Green Pearls project, Elise Eeraerts created a visual connection between the Princess Astrid Park, the Green Passage and the Mayor's Park. For this she uses the lines in the sand. In fact, the sand layers under Lommel go hundreds of meters deep and also contain silver or quartz sands. Elise literally makes these sand layers visible.
The line consists of 3 parts. Each part starts at the central axis of the trail: the Dorp and its extension, the Kerkstraat. From there, the line moves toward the green spaces. The longest part of the line arrives at the Vryheyt, where the Princess Astrid Park is physically farthest from the central axis. The medium portion runs up to the Mayor's Park at the Frans van Hamstaat. The shortest section is at the Green Passage in Kerkstraat.
