Green crossing

Three vacant buildings have made way for a special walkway and experiential landscape that connects the Kerkstraat with Mudhoven and brings a piece of nature into the heart of Lommel.

Along the path you will see a special landscape with herbaceous plants, hedges, multi-trunked trees and Scots pines. Special attention goes to bee- and butterfly-friendly planting, because pollinators have an important function for our society as well as in nature.

Bosland National Park

The “Groene Doorsteek” experiential landscape brings a piece of Bosland National Park to the center of Lommel. Covering more than 5,000 ha, Bosland lies at the heart of Flanders’ largest natural area. It is located in the North Limburg Kempen region, spanning the territories of three Limburg municipalities: Lommel, Hechtel-Eksel, and Pelt. Here you’ll find a diverse landscape featuring forests, heathland, stream valleys, inland dunes, and more. “Experience the Wilderness” is at the heart of every decision Bosland makes. This means they prioritize unspoiled nature wherever possible, while also placing great importance on the experience of exploring it.
