Just 400 metres from the Sahara forest, you can go for a walk with the donkeys Dora and Dorus. All you need to do is call Laurent or Griet in advance to let them know you're coming. Once there, you'll meet the donkeys, receive treats for them and a walking map of the area. You can choose to take a free walk or follow the suggested route (approx. 2 hours).
Tips along the way
Always remain calm and composed. If necessary, give firm but kind guidance.
From time to time, you can encourage them with a treat you've been given.
The donkeys are real foodies, but don’t pick anything yourself! Some plants can be very poisonous to them. They know exactly which plants are safe.
Avoid walking too close to tempting plants like brambles.
Always stay alert. Donkeys, like us, can get startled or stumble. They also love rolling in the sand now and then.
