What can you expect?
You start at Sports Park the Soeverein, where you can rent a bike at Fietsparadijs Limburg. From here, cycle past the Lommel Sahara and follow the Bocholt–Herentals Canal to the Blauwe Kei, an ideal spot for your first short break or terrace stop.
Continue through the Waaltjesbos and across the Kristalpark cycling bridge, offering views of the largest solar park in the Benelux. You then reach Kattenbos, perfect for a picnic near the Leyssens Mill or for a snack, drink or ice cream at Brasserie De Vijf Linden.
Ready to keep going? Cycle on to the German War Cemetery, the largest WWII cemetery in Western Europe (16 hectares). Walk among the rows of graves, learn their stories and take a moment of reflection. Nearby, Hof ten Vrede offers a cosy stop for cyclists.
Next, you ride around the Ford Proving Ground, Ford’s main European test centre with over 100 km of test tracks. A short detour into Pelt gives you a glimpse of the Hobos, before returning to Lommel.
Need another break? Stop at De Groote Hoef for a drink or lunch before continuing along the Bocholt–Herentals Canal. Follow the towpath to node 230, optionally detouring to the sunny terrace at Marina De Meerpaal, and finish at House of Nature, the impressive steel gateway to National Park Bosland. A final stop is possible at Café Den Engel or Brasserie De Kantine.
