Intangible cultural heritage
Sand art in Lommel was recognized in 2026 as Flemish intangible cultural heritage. A beautiful tribute to this unique local tradition, kept alive and passed on to future generations.
Creative local talent
Everyone can participate in the Lommel Sand Carpet Exhibition. Young or old, beginner or experienced: with sand and a frame, participants unleash their creativity and display the most unique creations in this special art form.
Sand Carpet XL
In addition to individual works, admire an impressive XL sand carpet. Experienced sand artists create a large work together, full of refined patterns and stunning details.
Public voting
Not only a jury selects winners: you can also vote for your favourite sand carpet. The public highlights the most creative and unique works.
