What to expect
Begin your walk at the Leyssensmolen car park in Kattenbos and head towards Lommel’s hidden gem: the Meysterbergen. Here you’ll be welcomed straight away by your first stretch of blooming purple heath. Via the ‘dode ring’, the trail takes you through a beautiful forest towards the Mariapark, home to your second heathland hotspot. Make sure to take the short 50-metre detour to the Mariapark itself. This unique pilgrimage site in Northern Limburg features a Lourdes grotto and numerous impressive religious artworks. The path then leads you through the peaceful Waaltjesbos back to Kattenbos, where you finish with even more heathland beauty before returning to your starting point.
